The multi-year project aims to create a functional digital foundation that enables the Finnish city to run efficient and reliable services for employees and citizens.
The city of Helsinki has announced a multi-year project with the aim of reforming and improving its digital foundation.
According to city authorities, reforming the digital foundation is one of the most important development areas in its bid to become the city that “best capitalises” on digitalisation.
Efficient and reliable services
Helsinki’s ambition is to create a functional digital foundation which will enable efficient and reliable services for the city’s employees and residents alike. The programme covers, among other things, telecommunications services, support services, lifecycle services for data terminals, as well as server and capacity services.
“Functional services in infrastructure and basic information technology are of critical importance to the operations of the entire city, and making the digital leap is not possible without a functional digital foundation,” said Mikko Rusama, chief digital officer of Helsinki, and project manager for the digital foundation project.
